Charles L. "Charlie" Wise, 81, of St. Marys, WV, passed away, June 12, 2018, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV, from injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was born, February 27, 1937, in St. Marys, WV, a son of the late Clark and Audrey Steele Wise. Charlie "The Handyman of St. Marys" worked for Ironworkers Local Union # 787. He helped build a lot of the bridges on Interstate 77, when the interstate was built. He would remind the family of that when they would drive the interstate. He retired from Boilermakers Local Union #667. Charlie had been employed by the Gerber Family for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Doloris A. Wise, whom he married on October 20, 1956 in Belmont, WV, his two children, Vicki Wise (Bill) Hurte, and Chuck (Terri) Wise, four grandchildren, Nicole (Richard) Bowling, Jessica Hurte (Ryan) Newhart, Benjamin (Amanda) Hurte, and Mollie (Rich) Skinner, eight great grandchildren, Emmalee and Evan Pritchett, Easton Bowling, Adalyn, Claire, and Everly Newhart, and Rowan and Brody Skinner, brothers and sisters, Paul B. Wise, Lucille Farson, Linda Dye, Susan McMahan, and Sharon Heiney (Don Binegar), several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Bill Wise, and sister, Ruby Eddy.
Charlie was respected and loved by everyone who met him. He was a kind, honest, hardworking man, who never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. As per Charlie's wishes he will be cremated and there will be no services at this time. There will be a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Pleasants County Emergency Squad, 406 Third Street, St. Marys, WV 26170, or the St. Marys Volunteer Fire Department, P. O.
