On March 23, 2023 Barbara Ann Brockmeier fulfilled her time on earth and joined her heavenly family and friends who passed before her.
Barbara was born May 30, 1928, in Wood County, WV. She was lovingly raised by James and Mary Bradfield at the Utopia Place in Lower Newport, OH.
Barbara attended De Sales Heights in Parkersburg, WV and completed her education at St. Mary Catholic High School in Marietta, OH while residing at The Betsey Mills Club. During high school she met Thomas A. Brockmeier. They married September 2, 1948, and remained devoted to each for 68 years until his death July 21, 2016.
In addition to her loving husband Thomas, she was preceded in death by two sons T. Michael and J. Kevin.
Barbara is survived by children Phyllis Boersma (Robert), Janis Sweigard (David), Todd Brockmeier (Pamela), Paula Brockmeier and Andrea Lisovich.
Eleven grandchildren, Benjamin, Lauren, Michael, Jeffrey, Jessica, Nicole, Eric, Evan, Andrew, Thomas J., and Michele and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Barbara enjoyed playing cards with friends. She served on The Women's Home Board for numerous years. She was a proud member of Washington County Democratic Women and served in various positions in the organization during her years of membership. Barbara was known for her friendliness, her words of wisdom and her sense of humor. She worked many years in banking and retired from The Washington County Joint Vocational School as the assistant treasurer.
The family would like to thank the staff at Elison Assisted Living and Amedisys Hospice for all of the care and compassion they gave to Barbara.
There will be a Celebration of Life Mass at The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption at 10:00 AM on April 12, 2023, immediately followed by private burial. The family will greet friends and guests one hour before Mass in the social hall of the Basilica. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption.
