Darell Ray Spears (67) of New Matamoras, died Sunday January 7, 2024 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born on October 29, 1956 the son of Earl Joe and Ruby Louise Hicks Spears. He graduated from Frontier High School in 1974. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post No. 378 in New Matamoras, a past member of the Village of Matamoras Council and a member of the Grandview Township Fire Department.

On July 18, 2009 he married Joyce Ann Hubbard and she survives with one son Paul Spears (Crystal) of New Matamoras and two grandchildren Zoey and Conner Spears.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Brenda Neary.

Funeral services will be held at the Hadley Funeral Home in New Matamoras on Wednesday January 10, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. with David Beaver and John Felton officiating and with military services at the funeral home.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday January 9, 2024 from 4 to 8 P.M.

It was his wish to be cremated following the funeral service.
