Elizabeth Ann Shinn Knight

Elizabeth Ann Shinn Knight, “Betty”, 95, of Greenwood, Indiana, formerly of Marietta, Ohio.

On Dec 26th, Betty passed away serenely surrounded by family.

She grew up in Moorestown, New Jersey, with 3 younger brothers; She excelled at Moorestown High School before moving on to work at an insurance company in Philadelphia. In 1953 she married Frederick Knight, an officer in The US Army. They were eventually based in Germany. Post-military life saw them in Illinois, West Virginia, and, ultimately Marietta, Ohio where Betty became involved in St Luke’s Episcopal Church, Welfare League, Arts and Letters Society, and 2 bridge clubs. Fred’s job allowed them to explore across the US and Europe.

In 1978 the Knights bought Buckshot Lake Camp in Ontario Canada; family and friends cherish times spent there as well as their winter home in Vero Beach, FL. Betty was a prolific reader as well as a skilled artist, quilter, and craftsperson. Most of all she cherished time with her many friends and large family! She was a friendly, thoughtful, and giving soul, quick with a smile, a laugh, a kind word, or a joke. She never met a stranger.

Betty is preceded in death by Frederick Knight, her husband of 68 yrs; brothers Walter and Roy Shinn, and her dear Aunt Edythe Shinn.

She is survived by her brother David Shinn and her children Tom Knight (Sandy), Bruce Knight (Tess), and Susan Knight-McCoy as well as grandchildren Chrystal., Matt, Ryan, John and Tim Knight, and Mazy, Avery, Blythe, and Bennett McCoy. She had 8 great-grandchildren; TJ, Allie, Walter, Ellie and Asher Knight, Devin Royal, McKenzie Harris, and Edie Coffin.

A celebration of life is planned for June 2nd, 2024 in Indiana.
