James Edward Jackson Sr., 91, of Belpre, passed away peacefully at CCMH, January 12, 2024.
He was born on October 17, 193,2 in Belpre, OH, a son of the late William E. and Ethel Blair Jackson.
James served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a hard worker. He retired after 55 years of his service working at General Service Admin. He had a passion for animals and was dog warden for many years, James loved working, putting in 4 gardens every year. He was called the Neighborhood Watchman. He loved using his metal detector, going to different places. Loved hunting for arrowheads, he taught the girls (grandchildren) what to hunt for, coins and found many other things as well. He loved telling the history of Belpre to anyone and everyone, he loved history. His dogs loved him so much and he was loved by everyone that knew him and came in contact with him. He will be missed by EVERYONE!! Don’t forget … Don’t take any wooden nickels.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Deloris G. Jackson; grandchildren Sabrina (Cyrus), Angel (Nathan), Christina (Chris), Jamie; great grandchildren L.J., Dylan, AJ, Milee,Urijah, Kaedence, Karter, Kamryn, Keegan, Jay, Ryan and Johnathan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Beverly and his sons Butch and Larry; granddaughter Bianca; sisters Cora, Anne and Janie; brothers Robert and William Jr.; brother-in-law James Leroy and a nephew Jared.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 18, 2024, 1:00 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre. Burial will follow at Rockland Cemetery, Belpre. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.LeavittFuneralHome.com.
