On April 19, 2024, David Nicholas "Nick" Russell, 44, of Beverly, Ohio, our dearest friend, brother and dad, left this world a better place than he found it.
He was born in Marietta, Ohio, on May 4th, 1979, a son of the late David Lee and Cathy Lee Buhles Russell.
Nick was a career commercial truck driver, with over 20 years of service and 1 million+ safe miles, which he took great pride in.
Nick loved all things outdoors. He enjoyed hunting morel mushrooms, ramps, and squirrels. His greatest passion was fishing. He would spend hours floating in his kayak, or sitting on the bank with his children, along with his lifelong childhood friend Earl Carpenter, waiting to reel one in. Wherever Nick was, Earl was not far behind.
One of the many accomplishments in his life was earning his Eagle Scout Merit Badge. Nick was an excellent marksman and had participated in various IDPA shooting competitions. He loved working on firearms, reloading ammunition, and target shooting with his children and best friend Earl.
Nick's greatest treasure in life was being the proud father to Rileigh Blaine, Kalie Nicole, Zoe Karin, Kathleen Marie, and David Michael Russell.
He was also a proud grandfather to Kayden Britton, Ashlynn Britton, Opie Britton, Lincoln Miller, Raelynn Bruce, and Zailur Russell.
Nick was loved beyond measure and leaves behind so many to carry on his memory including sister Natalie Russell-Gray, and brother Nathan Russell, nieces Kinzy, Sadie and nephew Zach.
Nick was not only given a loving family, but many adoring friends and loved ones, including the other half of his heart, Molly Chutes.
Earl, along with his wife Renee, and dearest friend, Ila, cared for Nick through his battle with cancer and stood by his side to the very end.
We will continue to carry his memory with us every day and remember the words that he often quoted: Don't sweat the small stuff, Keep the important people in your life close, and find the good in every day ... even the bad days.
As per Nick's request, there will be no services.
The family would like to thank The Lowell Moose, all those who helped or contributed to his fundraising benefit on April 20th.
