Patricia A. Garvey
Patricia (Pat) A. Garvey, 61, of Loveland, Ohio, unexpectedly passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024, in her home. Pat was born on August 10, 1962, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., the daughter of the late Leo F. Garvey and Jane Zymroz Garvey and devoted sister of Julia.
She attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and graduated from Marietta High School in 1980. She then moved from Marietta, Ohio, to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she attended the University of Cincinnati.
Pat loved meeting new people and exploring new places, which would later become her trademark in life. She found her true calling in the hotel and tourism industry. She enjoyed a long career in the industry, in marketing and contract negotiations with organizations such as Winegardner Hammons, The Commonwealth Hotels, and finally, the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, from which she recently retired.
Pat’s true joy stemmed from connecting with people from all walks of life. Her warm smile, engaging personality, and sense of humor made others feel accepted, and she quickly built trust with friends and strangers. She never hesitated to lend an ear to friends, neighbors, and relatives. And she was always willing to help those in need.
Pat loved to travel, play golf, and was fiercely competitive in trivia and euchre. She enjoyed chats with neighbors passing by while outside with her loving companion, Murphy, her 5-year-old Aussie Doodle. Her humor kept everyone in stitches, and she especially enjoyed little “gotcha” jokes. She was a dedicated member of her HOA Board of Directors and devoted her time and talents to improving the community’s fiscal health and encouraging others to volunteer.
Pat’s deep faith in Catholic beliefs was at the core of her being. As a devoted member of Good Shepherd Church, she enjoyed serving others as part of the Eucharistic Team. She was dedicated to making sure neighbors who could not attend Mass received communion in their homes.
Pat was a loving daughter, a faithful companion to her sister, a trusting, kind, compassionate friend and neighbor, and the best dog mom ever. She will be sorely missed and forever in our hearts.
Pat was survived by her mother, sister, relatives, and friends.
