Mary Ellen (Otto) Barrows went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 in Greenville, SC. Mary was born in Marietta, OH on August 17, 1937 and married the love of her life David Barrows on March 18, 1958. Always attentive to details, Mary was an accountant in the Trust Department at Peoples Bank in Marietta and retired from there after many years of service. Mary enjoyed traveling and reading. There are many photo albums filled with photos of their wonderful memories. She also loved flowers and gardening and was especially fond of the Christmas Cactus.

When Mary and Dave retired, they did the snowbird thing between Mesa, AZ and Marietta, OH for a few years. Mary and Dave then moved to The Villages, FL in January of 2004 where she was active in Operation Shoebox that packaged and shipped personal supplies for the troops overseas. She was an active member of New Covenant United Methodist Church in The Villages, FL where she worked in numerous positions.

Mary loved to cook and bake. While living in The Villages, she entered her apple pie into a contest and won the Blue Ribbon.

Mary was a wonderful and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Survivors include her husband Dave of Simpsonville, SC, sons Gregory (Jennifer) of Piedmont, SC and Andrew (Tammy) of Bluffton, SC. Grandchildren Corey Barrows (Jamie) of Scott Depot, WV and Kendall Barrows who will soon graduate from the United State Air Force Academy. Mary was deeply loved by her family and everyone who knew her.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Mable (Harris) Otto of Marietta, OH and her sister Doris Hopmoen.
