Richard Eugene Baumgard, 64, of New Matamoras, OH, passed away June 30, 2024, at O.S.U. James Medical Center in Columbus, OH. He was born September 21, 1959, in Marietta, OH, to the late Eugene and Twila Robertson Baumgard. Richard graduated from Devola Christian School in 1978 and attended Lawrence Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Valerie Cline Baumgard whom he married October 20, 1979, daughters Jessica Bellville (Doug), Amanda Warner (Joe), Christie "Butt" Baumgard and a bonus daughter Lynsey Decker, grandchildren Seth, Cam (Madison), Blake, Max, Remi, Landon, Leah, siblings Debra Alverman, Jeff (Tania), Jerry (Malisa), David (Kim) Baumgard, Gina Fontaine, Sandy (Victor) Singletary and Jack Baumgard. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Tim, brother-in-laws Dave and Tim Cline, nephew Heath Greenwood and great-nephew Jaxon Baumgard. Funeral services will take place 3:00 PM Friday, July 5, 2024, at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, OH, with Erin Curtis officiating, burial to follow in Muskingum Valley Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Friday. His mom preceded him in death 10 days before his death and God called him to heaven because he needed a backup.
