Dr. Arthur James Acton passed away peacefully at his home in Zelienople, PA, on August 15, 2024. He was a graduate of the College of Wooster and the University of Michigan where he completed his doctoral studies. Art began his academic career in the history department at Marietta College and gradually transitioned from the faculty to the administration. Art left Marietta in 1986 for a position with Waynesburg University and later continued his career at Chatham, Ohio Northern and Clarion (now PennWest) Universities.
Art is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, his three daughters and 3 grandchildren.
A private family funeral was handled by Devlin Funeral Home in Cranberry Twp., PA.
