Ruth Ann Croy (nee Wagner), aged 87, passed away on August 10, 2024, in Chandler, Arizona. Born on June 5, 1937, in Waterford, Ohio, she was a cherished member of her community and a beloved figure among family and friends.
Ruth Ann dedicated her professional life to hairdressing, a trade she passionately pursued after graduating from the Ohio School of Cosmetology. Beyond her professional endeavors, she was an avid gardener, a lover of holidays, and an enthusiastic card player. Ruth Ann was also an active member of the Emblem Club at the Elks Lodge in Athens, Ohio, and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 389 in Beverly, Ohio, where her presence will be deeply missed.
Family was the cornerstone of Ruth Ann's life. She is survived by her sons, Rodney (Renee) Blackford and Mike (Cathy) Blackford of Chandler, AZ, and Roche (Marcia) Croy of Liberty Township, OH; stepdaughter, Tammy (Rick) Dempster of McConnelsville, OH; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; stepbrother, Jeff Babcock (Pam) of Beverly, OH; and sister, Arlene Pennock of Beverly, OH. Her life was also enriched by many nieces and nephews. Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her first husband, William A. Blackford; parents, Dorothy and Truman Wagner; stepmother, Lou Wagner; second husband, Alan Croy; stepson, R.D. Croy; and brother-in-law, Robert Pennock.
The family will hold a private memorial in Beverly, Ohio, to honor Ruth Ann's life and legacy. McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly, Ohio, is assisting the family during this time. Ruth Ann's beautiful smile and warm presence will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy of kindness and community involvement will live on through the many lives she touched.
