Carlton Wesley Schramm

Carlton Wesley Schramm, 92, of Marietta, OH, passed away October 7, 2024, at Marietta Memorial Hospital following several months of declining health.

He was born July 15, 1932, in his family home in Reno, Ohio, the son of the late Neely W. and Mary Drusilla Westbrook Schramm.

On June 3, 1979, he married Carol Maze and together they spent 45 years of marriage.

Carlton is survived by his wife Carol (Maze) Schramm; Children- David (Karen), John, Susan (Tony) Satterfield, Shella (Joel) Seckel. Grandchildren- Amy (Brett) Moore, Joan (Justin) Waite, Gina Schramm, Tyler Schramm, Jordan Satterfield, Wesley Satterfield, Mikaela Schramm and Kelby Schramm. Great Grandchildren Alyssa, Alayna, Brayden, Brycen, Joseph, Charlie, Kasen, and Kolton. Brothers Paul Schramm and Allan Schramm and several nieces and nephews.

Carlton was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Phyllis Runkel and daughter in law Joanne Schramm.

Carlton attended Sand Hill Grade School and graduated from Marietta High School with the class of 1950. He attended Ohio University graduating 1954 and Commissioned as a 2nd LT in the US Army. He served as an Army Aviator both in Korea and stateside. Moving to Marietta in 1958 he started a family with his wife Joan (Bay) and worked at The Workingman's Store. The following years found him in various sales positions in both the Pharmaceutical and Footwear industries. He finished his sales career back at The Workingman's Store in 2017.

The family would like to say thank you to the Staff at the Arbors of Marietta as well as the staff at Marietta Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care. Also, to his many friends, especially Mario Viglione and 'The Apostles', who visited him often and made each other laugh.

Carlton will be remembered for his love of family, friends, and zest for life. His quick wit, limericks and smile will be missed by all. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley or the Devola Volunteer Fire Company.

Funeral service will be October 21st at 1:00 PM at St. Luke's Lutheran Church Fourth St., Marietta. The family will greet friends 1 hour prior at the Church.
