Glenn Harold Kimble, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed peacefully away at his home, Wednesday, October 23. He was 97 years old. Born October 30, 1926 in Parkersburg, WV, Glenn served in the United States Army for two years as a Tech 4 Sergeant in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After returning from Korea, Glenn worked as an electrician for Griffin Electric in Williamstown for 24 years. He then worked in electrical supplies for Capco Electric and Sprague Electric in Marietta, OH,. and finally in Industrial Sales at State Electric in Parkersburg where he retired. Glenn was an active member of Williamstown Lions Club since December, 1951. During his service, he was awarded the Leonard Jarrett Award in recognition of distinguished service for sight and hearing in the WV Sight Foundation and the Melvin Jones Award for dedicated humanitarian service in the Lions Club International Foundation. Glenn enjoyed serving the Williamstown community through his knowledge and skill as a craftsman and electrician. He was instrumental in crafting and installing wooden street signs throughout the city and helped construct and wire the Lion's Club Shelter and horseshoe courts in Tomlinson Park. He also worked with the Williamstown Boosters Club and the Community Association to install two sets of lights at the Williamstown High School football field and previous tennis courts, planned and aided with the electrical work for the Williamstown High School weight building, and assisted with work at the Williamstown pool and public restroom by the Lion's shelter. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Williamstown where he served for many years on the Trustees committee, tirelessly working to improve the facilities. He loved working in his yard and took pride in everything he did. He was a kind, gentle man who will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Glenn is the son of the late Eston Riley Kimble and Gertrude Cunningham Kimble. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, the former Dorothy Jeanne Fenton Kimble and 2 brothers, Jack Kimble and Phillip Kimble. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Graves of Williamstown, his grandson, Matthew Graves (Hannah) of Marietta, GA, his great granddaughter, Dorothy Jean, and his sister, Alice Burge of Vienna. Friends may pay their respects Saturday, October 26th from 4:00-8:00 PM at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike Street, Marietta, OH. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 27th at 3:00 PM, First United Methodist in Williamstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Williamstown Lions Club c/o Mrs. Amy Houser, 423 Henderson Avenue, Williamstown or First United Methodist Church, Williamstown.
