Mark Leslie Neely
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Leslie Neely, age 57, of Williamstown, West Virginia, who passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born on May 12, 1967, in Charleston, West Virginia to Bernard Dale Neely and Carolyn Sue Neely.
He was a graduate of George Washington High School and went on to study electrical engineering at West Virginia Institute of Technology. He was a well-respected and admired employee of Nalco Chemicals for over 19 years. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work and dedication.
More than anything, Mark was a devoted and beloved father. He loved spending time supporting his children through every activity. One of his proudest moments was watching both of his sons as they won the 2014 State Football Championship. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, through every challenge they faced; he never once missed a game or any opportunity to support his kids.
In his free time, Mark enjoyed hunting at his camp in Ohio, cheering on the Mountaineers and Steelers, and spending time at his kitchen table or in the garage talking sports or about anything in general to anyone who would stop by. Mark lit up every room he entered, and he never met a stranger he couldn’t befriend.
Mark Neely is survived his children, Peyton Grafton (Garrett), Hunter Neely (Elle), and Blake Neely (Emmy), his brothers Tom Neely, Derrick Neely (Cindy), and Craig Neely (Denise), the mother of his children Stephanie Neely, and his best friend and companion, a black lab named Shooter. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service to celebrate Mark’s life will be held at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOMES located at 408 Front Street in Marietta, Ohio on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 7:00 pm. Visitation will take place from 4-7 on Thursday evening.
