Charles Emerson Weddle

Charles Emerson Weddle, 81, of New Matamoras, died on Sunday December 1, 2024, in Marietta, Ohio.

He was born on December 26, 1942, in New Matamoras the son of Emerson and Dorothy Lisk Weddle. He graduated from New Matamoras High School in 1960, then enlisted in the Navy. He worked at Ormet Aluminum for 30 years and then retired from there. He was a member of American Legion Post 378 in New Matamoras and was a member of the Steel Workers Union No. 5724 and a former Matamoras volunteer fireman.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Regina Reusser and by one son Charlie Weddle and three daughters Gina Higgins (Earl Offenberger), Dee Hutchison (Mike) Teresa Fortenberry (Ron). Also surviving are six grandchildren Kayla and Dustin Higgins, Chelsea Hutchison, Shaelynn Hutchison Trenner (Dakota), Megan and Zachary Huck and Trevor Weddle. Two great grandkids Olive Higgans and Adam Weddle and one sister Ruth Piatt. Also surviving are several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons, one brother-in-law and good buddies Jerry Staley, Chuck Walton and Bob Shook.

Funeral services will be held on Friday December 6, 2024, at Hadley Funeral Home 700 Main St. New Matamoras Ohio at 11:00 AM with Erin Curtis officiating. Burial will follow in the Matamoras Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Thursday, December 5th at the funeral home.
