Gwendolyn Lucille Knapp, 100, of Williamstown, WV, died peacefully on December 21 at Elison Assisted Living where she had resided for the past 3 1/2 years. She is survived by her daughter Connie Metts (Larry) of Greenwood, IN., granddaughters Aimee Metts Woehler (Terry) and Stephanie Metts Davis (Joedy). She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Leigh Knapp and grandchildren Jason John Knapp (Jill), Seth Knapp (Katie), Tyson Knapp and Sarah Knapp (Wesley Miller) and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother Fern Corbin, her husband of 62 years John E. Knapp Sr., their daughter June Knapp and son John E. Knapp Jr. Gwen was a homemaker and raised her family before she went to work for 14 years at Irene’s Fashions in Marietta. She loved her job, made many friends there. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Williamstown. The family would like to thank the many caregivers at Elison Assisted Living for their compassionate care of Gwen, Amedysis Hospice Care and the many friends who visited her faithfully. The past June over 150 people attended a party in honor of her 100th birthday and she was featured on WTAP News. She was thrilled that so many people came. It was a highlight of her life. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday, December 29th at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1012 Pike St. with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
