Jean Anne Sercer Fox

Fox

Jean Anne Sercer Fox, of Kountze, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 11, 2024. A cherished wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Jean was known for her sweet smile, extraordinary strength, dedication to others, and deep love for her family.

Jean was born in Tennessee on February 9, 1961. She attended St. Jude Catholic School in Chattanooga until age 11, when the family moved to Beverly, OH. She graduated from Fort Frye High School where she excelled and went on to study at the Washington County Technical College.

Her love of reading from a young age was further instilled when she started her first job at Washington County Public Library in Beverly, Ohio. There Jean established her lifelong work ethic, arriving early to every shift and never missing a day. Her positive attitude was consistently acknowledged, and she enjoyed a long career at the library until she moved back to Tennessee.

Subsequent careers led Jean to retail bookstores and then the restaurant industry, eventually landing her at the Subway in Kountze, Texas. Through her 14 years there she became a bright light to her coworkers who appreciated her dedication to teamwork and her can-do attitude. She built a strong base of regular customers who were always greeted with a smile and looked forward to her welcoming nature.

Jean met Brett Fox in Nashville in 1992, and they made their way closer to Brett's family in Texas where they built their life and celebrated 27 years of marriage. They made many trips back east for family gatherings, holidays, and the annual Sercer family lake trips where many precious memories were made. They were dedicated to each other and the numerous fur babies they rescued and loved through the years.

Jean was a tiny but fierce big sister and our guardian angel on earth. From standing up to playground bullies, to monitoring weather systems all over the country in our adult years, she watched over us all and always had our backs.

Jean was preceded in death by parents Agnes and Richard Sercer, and sister Connie Williams (Mike). She leaves behind husband Brett Fox, siblings Don Sercer, Shari Moors (Mike), Pegeen Kottak, Nicky Sercer (Jenny), Angela Sercer (Kim), and in-laws Marti Gracie, Jan Fontanoza (Danny), Annette Lynd (Art), many nieces and nephews who adored her, and countless friends. She will be dearly missed by all.

A Memorial gathering to celebrate Jean's life will be held at Magnolia Lane Event Center in Lumberton, TX, on Friday, December 6, from 12-2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean's name to the pet rescue group, PAWS of Beaumont, TX.
