Dr. Edwin “Keith” Stotts, 91, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 2, 2025, at The Harmar Place Community in Marietta.

Keith was born on May 21, 1933, in Quaker City, Ohio, to the late Harry and Dorothy Stotts, and grew up in the area graduating from Batesville High School. While in High School, he met his wife, Joan. He went on to college and earned a bachelor’s degree in Bible and biblical languages, a master’s in Old Testament and completed postgraduate work in psychology. He and Joan married in the summer between his freshman and sophomore years in college (June 15, 1952) and were together for over seventy years.

Keith and Joan spent their lives building a legacy of Christian education for all ages, but especially in higher education with over 40 years at Ohio Valley College (OVC) in Vienna, WV. Board (11 years), President (25 years), and Chancellor (11 years).

Prior to his 25-year tenure as president of Ohio Valley College, he spent 15 years as a minister in Ashtabula and Columbus, Ohio and served as an administrator for Mid-Western Children’s Home in Cincinnati for more than five years (1971-1976).

He and Joan raised two sons (Clint and Shane) and have four grandchildren (Kaley, Aidan, Rachel, and Paige) who brought so much joy and happiness to their lives. He loved spending time golfing, hunting and watching his grandchildren grow up. Keith was known for his intelligence, quick-witted humor, and generous spirit.

In addition to his parents Harry and Dorothy Stotts, Keith is preceded in death by his wife Joan; brother Monty Stotts, and sisters Ruth Watson and Thelma Lee Moore. He is survived by his children, Clint Stotts and Shane (Traci) Stotts; four grandchildren, Kaley Stotts, Aidan Stotts, Rachael Stotts, and Paige Stotts; and his brother Neal Stotts; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Visitation will be held at Grand Central Church of Christ in Vienna, WV from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Friday January 10th and on Saturday January 11th at 1:00PM. A Memorial Service to celebrate Keith’s life will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday January 11th. Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family respectfully requests memorial donations be made in his name to the Grand Central Church of Christ Building Fund, 5808 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV 26105 to support the completion of their new building expansion.
