A native of Mingo County, Gib was born and raised in North Matewan, West Virginia, before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1960. He served his country proudly to include time in the West Virginia Air National Guard. He was a friend to all he met through his kids' activities and time spent as a 32nd degree Master Mason and loyal member of both the Nemesis Shrine and Royal Order of Jesters Court 156.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice Care for their outstanding care. There will be no services or visitation. The family intends to hold a private, graveside memorial in the spring. Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, they request donations be made in Gib's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or the Children's Home Society of West Virginia.
