Amanda Marie Smolenski
Amanda Marie Smolenski, beloved daughter of Joye Wells Smolenski and the late Stanley Smolenski, slipped away at home on March 13th. She was born on April 17, 1986, in Jeannette, PA. In addition to her mother, she is survived by aunts and uncles, Cindy (Bill) Alward, William “Popeye” (Maggie) Lenker, Cathy (Paul) Kentzel, Jenny (Bob) Kramer, Chet (Anita) Smolenski, John (MaryEllen) Smolenski, Ed (Chris) Smolenski, Mary Smolenski, and Steve (Debbie) Smolenski, many cousins, her goddaughter Trinity Pujia, and her best friend (her sister by heart) Samantha (Doug) Herron and her honorary nephews Joey, David, and Theo Herron. She grew up in Marietta, OH, where she graduated from Marietta High School. She was on the track and cross-country team. Amanda was a Licensed Social Worker and was currently employed by First Alliance Healthcare of Ohio in Cleveland. She had Bachelor’s degrees in history (Xavier University) and social work (Brescia University). She was working on her Master’s in Social Work at Cleveland State University. Amanda enjoyed her job very much and felt she could help make a difference. Amand enjoyed reading, playing video games, and, sometimes, cross-stitching. She loved animals, especially her dogs and her mother’s cat. She was a lifelong Pittsburgh Penguins fan. She had been married to Cory Sims until their mutual parting last year. There will be a memorial for her in a few months, when the weather is better. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory may be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (imaginationlibrary.com).
