Dennis Leon Terry

Dennis Leon Terry, 63, of Lower Salem, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27 at home after a courageous battle with Esophageal Cancer. Born on April 5, 1962, in Bedford, Indiana. He moved to Marietta, Ohio in 1969 and was a graduate of Marietta Sr. High School.

Dennis moved to Reno, Nevada in 1986 where he started his career as a commercial truck driver, which began his passion for driving the big rigs for the next 39 years. In 2011 he moved back to Marietta, Ohio & most recently was employed by BD Oil Gathering. Dennis loved fishing with his dad and best friend “Casto” and was involved with the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association, working in the pit crew for Dave Dickson. His passion for music was his heart, singing the National Anthem on horseback at the Reno Rodeo or sitting on his front porch swing with his dog Grace strumming his six string with a cold Busch Light.

He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Terry, and is survived by his father, Eugene Terry of Marietta, two sisters and a brother, Vicki Cline (Hayden) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Kenneth Terry (Marcy), Kristi Barnes (Joe) all of Marietta, Ohio; one uncle, James Terry (Judith) of Bloomington, Indiana, eight nieces and nephews, twelve great nieces & nephews, many beloved cousins in Indiana and dear friend Michelle and their dog Grace.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 6:00 p.m. at The Celebration Center of Marietta, 822 Front St. with a reception immediately following. Online condolences may be made at www.hadleyfh.com.
