Karen Mae Newbrough
								Karen Mae Newbrough, born on December 25, 1945, in Fairmont, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, at Elison Memory Care, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Carl Frederick and Sara VanGilder.
Karen was the devoted wife of Kenneth E. Newbrough, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. A dedicated homemaker, Karen took great pride in caring for her family and home. She was passionate about cooking, sewing, crafting, decorating, and assisting her husband in maintaining their yard. Her greatest joy came from her family, and she was especially proud of her grandchildren, about whom she spoke often and with immense pride.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Kenneth E. Newbrough, and their three children: Tammie (Jeffery) Brooks, Vicki (Randy) Marshall, and Keith (Dana) Newbrough. She also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Mallory Gomes, Logan Marshall, Haley Deskins, Mackenzie Verhoff, Samantha Newbrough, Sydney Newbrough, and Hudson Newbrough; and thirteen great-grandchildren who brought her tremendous joy.
Karen is also survived by her siblings: Carl F. (Sandi) VanGilder, Hollis (David) Morgan, Sandra (Lynn) Malone, and Martin (Linda) VanGilder. She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant sister, Carla Ann VanGilder.
Karen was a breast cancer survivor and bravely battled dementia for the past two years. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Elison Memory Care and the compassionate nurses of Amedisys Hospice for their attentive care and support throughout this difficult time.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Leavitt Funeral Services and Crematory at 403 7th Street Parkersburg, WV 26101. Public viewing will be held between the hours of 6-8pm on April 24, 2025 with an additional hour of viewing at noon on April 25,2025 immediately followed by funeral services at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys Hospice of 27855 SR-7 Marietta, Ohio 45750 or the Alzheimer’s Association P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011.
