Rita Cecile Carder Walters, 89, New Matamoras, OH, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

Born in Point Pleasant, WV, on August 24, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Cecile Claire Musgrave Carder. She was a 1953 graduate of Matamoras High School and attended Marietta College. Rita worked for McVeys Confectionary, Evans Dairy Bar, and The Jug for 41 years. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit#378, New Matamoras, OH and Post 64 Marietta. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #261, New Matamoras, OH, Past Queen of the Nile #205, El Nasig #162, and past High Priestess of Ladies Oriental Shrine North America 1995 Hathor Court #3.

She is survived by two daughters, Tara (David) Bonnette, and Tracey (Ronald) Wright; one son, John (Tara) Walters; seven grandchildren, Benjamin (Katie) Bonnette, James (Gracy) Bonnette, Katie (John) Wilson, Heather Walters, Amber (Sean) Houck, Mitchell (Breanna) Wright, and Dustin (Kaylee) Wright; 13 great-grandchildren, Lucas and Stephen Bonnette, Averi, Sean, Brennen, and Evelyn Houck, Scarlett Grace Bonnette, John David, Winnie Kate and Ty Wilson, and Baylee and Canaan Wright; several nieces , nephews, and family members; and her buddy, Brenda Moore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 40 years, Byron G. Walters, sister, Dr. Phyllis Baker, and one great-grandson, Eli Benjamin Bonnette.

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday and from 12 to 1 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
