Marjorie R. Shears, 96, passed away on May 20, 2025, at Harmar Place in Marietta, OH and previously resided for seven years at The Pines of Marietta. She was a lifelong resident of Marietta and a 75-year member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was born on June 4, 1928, to Howard and Jennie Kaneff. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1946 and went to work at Ideco. She lived at the Betsy Mills Club until her marriage to Gilbert Shears, who passed in 2000. They shared 52 wonderful years together. Survivors include two daughters, Rita (Jim) Hill and Jeryl (Jim) Thrash; grandchildren, Megan (Greg) Gault, Joel (Carrie) Thrash and Joshua (Carrie) Thrash; great grandchildren, Madison and Ethan Gault, Grady and Coryn Thrash and Lindley and Naomi Thrash. She was preceded in death by her four siblings, Alberta Mills, Dorothy Goodwill, Bernice Nesper and Robert Kaneff and three half-sisters. The family would like to thank the employees of Harmar Place, The Pines and Cawley Hospice for the care and comfort they provided. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 23rd, 2025 at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St. with burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery.
