Shirley Ann Huffman, 88, of Parkersburg, passed away April 29, 2025, at Worthington Nursing Home. She was born in Marietta, OH, a daughter of the late Darrell V. and Elsie (Needs) Cutshaw.
She was a dedicated homemaker and also worked for Union Carbide. A faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, she served with compassion and commitment as a Pastoral Care Giver and Deaconess and was an active participant in the Bonnie White Circle. She was an enthusiastic bowler and competitive Scrabble player. In her early twenties she was a Red Cross Certified Swimming Instructor and Lifeguard at the Betsey Mills Club in Marietta, Ohio. She was an active member in the Mid-Ohio Valley Post-Polio Support Group, The Little Kanawha Regional Council, and the National Chrysanthemum Society.
Known for her nurturing spirit, she was a devoted caregiver who found great joy in helping and caring for others.
She is survived by a son James V. Huffman (Julia A.) of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter Julie A. Huffman of Winder, GA; and grandchildren Cole (Sierra), Grant, and Willow Huffman of Fort Wayne.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years James Edward Huffman on March 26th, 2025, and sister Bonnie Cutshaw.
Services will be Tuesday 11:00 AM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor David Carpenter officiating. Burial will be at Eastlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday 6-8 PM and Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
Memorial donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to Wood County Society who supports the Mid-Ohio Valley Post-Polio Support Group or Wood County Senior Citizens Association – Meals on Wheels.
