Gary "Jake" Dunn, of New Matamoras, OH, passed away in Marietta, on July 20, 2025. He was born on December 18, 1948, in Marietta, OH, and was the son of the late Charles "Chuck" Dunn and Mary Hutchinson Dunn. Jake graduated from Matamoras High School in 1966. Jake served in the U.S. Army and was a decorated war hero in the Vietnam War. He was also a long-time member of the Labor Union Local 639. Jake was especially known as an avid hunter & lover of the outdoors. He was a father of 3 children: Sheila (Chad) Janak of West Chester, PA, Brian Dunn of Parkersburg, WV & Aaron Dunn of Marietta, OH. He was also a proud grandfather of 4, Luke & Evan Janak, Andora & Autumn Dunn. He is survived by brother & best friend, Eric (Tina) of Marietta, OH. In addition to his parents, Jake was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Kirkbride, Judy Skidmore, brother Roger Lee Dunn and his 2nd wife, Virginia Grimes. The funeral service will be held at Hadley Funeral Home 700 Main St. New Matamoras on Thursday, July 24th at 2pm. Visitation will proceed to the funeral on Thursday from 12-2pm.
