Jimmy Lee McKnight
Jimmy Lee McKnight, 85, of St. Marys, died on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in his residence at Harmony of Morgantown. He was born October 1, 1939, in Weirton, WV to Claude and Erma McKnight. A 1956 graduate of St. Marys High School who entered the Army and served during the Korean War. Upon his return from Korea, he married Sara Little on Christmas Day, 1960. He worked at Union Carbide for over 30 years and also held positions with Queen City Barrel and Republic Container. He was a member of the St. Marys United Methodist Church. He was elected to the Pleasants County Board of Education and served several terms. Jim was appointed to the WV State Board of Education and the Southern Regional Education Board. Jim was an active member of the Lions Club and was a member of Masonic Lodge #41 since 1962. Jim and his wife, Sara, traveled to all 50 states and visited each of the MLB ballparks.
Jim is survived by his son John (Anne); grandchildren, Adam, Lily and Emme; sister, Rita Dingwall; sisters-in-law, Ruth Blauser, Eleanor Little and Irene McKnight; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Sara; son Steven; and brother, Charles.
A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Maple Lane Masonic Cemetery, Hebron, WV. There will be no visitation. Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV is assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the McKnight Caring Kitchen Fund with the Pleasants Community Foundation.
