Flanigan
Paul A. Flanigan, age 87, of Hockessin, Delaware, and formerly of Marietta, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, a son of Frances E. Caldwell and Paul A. Flanigan, Sr., Paul was a teacher for over 45 years at Warren Local School District and St. John Central School. “Coach Flanigan” served as defensive football coach at Warren High School for several decades.
Paul enjoyed American history, fishing, and woodworking. Upon retiring, he and Jackie enjoyed many camping trips to Salt Fork, trips to Maine, and spending time with family. When back home in Marietta, his children always marveled at the fact that they still couldn’t go anywhere in the area without their dad getting into a conversation with a former student. He loved all “his kids” and was always thrilled to hear all about what and how they were doing.
In addition to his parents and brother Lloyd, Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Jacqueline (Jackie) King Flanigan. Paul is survived by his three daughters, Carrie, (Brian) Winslow, Julie, (George) Guido and Amy, (Bryan) Baughman; his eight grandchildren, Emily (Daniel) Hagelberg Evan (Ellen) Winslow, Gabrielle (Brian) Gale, Madeline, Olivia and Jack Guido, Cade and, Laurie Baughman and his great grandson, Samuel Hagelberg.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Williams Funeral Home and Burial Services.
A Memorial Requiem Mass will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11:00 am at Resurrection Parish Catholic Church, 3000 Videre Drive, Skyline Ridge, Wilmington, DE 19808.
