Samuel G. Stewart, 82, of Marietta passed away at 4:01 p.m. on August 1, 2025, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

Sam was born on April 28, 1943, in Washington, D.C., to Guilford and Barbara (Burns) Stewart. He had graduated from Sterling Prep School in Craftsbury Commons, VT, before graduating from Franklin University in Columbus. Sam had been employed at O’Bleness Hospital for several years before retiring from the VA Hospital in Pomeroy. He loved animals and had an interest in studying and collecting rock and minerals. He had coached little league hockey and was a big Boston sports fan. Sam was a kind soul with an infectious laugh and loved being with people.

On May 16, 1964, he married Sarah Hannigan who preceded him in death on October 22, 2019.

Surviving are his children Patrick (Geri Bowden) Stewart of Hampden, ME, Jennifer (John) Barbret of Queen Creek, AZ, and Catherine “Casi” Stewart of Marietta.

In addition to his parents and wife, Sam was preceded in death by a sister Sophie Stewart.
