Jeanetta “Jeannie” Ruth Berentz

Jeanetta “Jeannie” Ruth Berentz, 74, of New Matamoras, OH, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at O.S.U. Medical Center. She was born June 9, 1951, in Charleston, WV, to the late James Beverly and Betty Frances Hanson Moore. Jeannie was the rock, the comforter, the peacemaker of our family, the glue that held us together. If there was a problem of any kind we went to Jeannie for help and she helped us find the answer. Her life revolved around her home community and church. She loved all and never judged. Her favorite pastimes were working with her church, talking with her family about “old times”. But most of all with her beloved granddaughter, Kaycee watching her play softball and go off to college. Spending one on one time with her and sending messages to each other about their day. They made many great memories and planned to make many more. She was the best “Mamaw”. Her family was her every thought each day. She had numerous friends and was “Aunt Jeannie” or “Mom” to many more. Jeannie worked as the Township Clerk for Ludlow Township and was a member of Muskingum Valley Baptist Church where she was active in the Women’s Missionary, she also was active in the V.F.W. Post #6387, New Matamoras Ladies Auxiliary where she served as past president. Jeannie is survived by her husband Ronald Charles Berentz whom she married November 1st, 1969, at Muskingum Valley Baptist Church, son Ronald Paul (Amanda) Berentz, grandchildren Kaycee Dawn Berentz, Hunter Driggs and Rylee Driggs Highley (Dakota), brother James Lance Moore (Corlie), sister Sharon Kay Marshall (Robert) and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her mother and father in law. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 20th at Muskingum Valley Baptist Church with Mark Roberts officiating, burial to follow in Muskingum Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, September 19th from 4-8 PM at Hadley Funeral Home, New Matamoras, 700 Main St., and again on Saturday 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
