Madlynne Rae Webber, age 85, of New Matamoras, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6th, 2025.
Born on January 3rd, 1940, in Ottawa, Illinois, Madlynne lived a life marked by grace, resilience, and deep compassion. Through God's grace, she touched the lives of many with her unwavering faith and pastor's heart. She married the love of her high school sweetheart James C. Webber on June 21, 1958.
Known for her particular leadership skills and love of the Bible, Madlynne poured her life into women across the East Ohio Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Her ministry was not confined to a pulpit--it was lived out in conversations, mentorship, and the quiet strength of her example.
She devoted many years to the Emmaus Walk ministry, serving faithfully as a Spiritual Director and guiding countless individuals in their walk with Christ. Alongside her husband Jim, she also helped lead the Bethesda Park Chautauqua outreaches, creating spaces of worship, fellowship, and renewal for their community.
A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Madlynne found joy in conversations, book studies, and tables of prayer and mutual encouragement. Her warmth and wisdom were a source of comfort and strength to all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: J. Michael Webber, Brenda (Terry) Wolfe, Kathy (Jim) Mills, and Jeffrey (Kristi) Webber; her grandchildren: Jeremy (Veronica) Wolfe, Kaleigh Wolfe, Jacob (Mersadies) Mills, Andrew (Jordan) Mills, Madlynne JoAnn Mills, Dalton (Alicia) Webber, Clay (Hope Thompson) Webber, Trenton Leonard, and Sid Leonard; and her sister, Virginia McVey of Marietta, Ohio, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and John Miller, Jim's cousin of New Matamoras, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Webber, parents, John Galley Sr. and Pauline Galley; her brother, John (Betty) Galley Jr. Tipton Galley; and her in-laws, Simeon and Beryl Webber.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the New Matamoras United Methodist Church.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit endures--in every act of kindness, every cherished memory, and every life she helped shape. Her journey was guided by God's grace, and her faith remains a light for those she leaves behind.
"I want to know Christ--yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this… but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me." --Philippians 3:10-12.
