Launce Kramer

Kramer

Launce Kramer, age 73, passed away in his home on Monday, October 6, 2025. Launce was born on September 9, 1952, in Dover, OH. He attended Tuscarawas Valley High School in Bolivar, OH, and thereafter served his country in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1979. Launce was a master electrician and was proud to have worked on Ronald Reagan’s Marine One helicopter. Launce was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2016 and given a prognosis of three to six months. Nine additional years were granted, and his family is forever grateful.

Launce married Carmen Michels on April 4, 1996, and together they shared twenty-five years of marriage until her passing on December 18, 2021. Carmen was the love of Launce’s life and it was a joy to watch the way they both loved and cared for each other. A lifetime learner — he was always reading and engaging his mind in books, work, and conversation. He was a wealth of knowledge and wisdom and yet so humble and kind in his interaction with others. Launce was a very principled man, who valued hard work and often enjoyed the process more than the finished product. He valued laughter and jokes and a perfectly timed pun. Launce also had a lifelong love for chess and cards, finding joy in both the strategy and the camaraderie they brought. He passed that love down to his children and grandchildren, sharing countless hours around the table teaching them games, patience, and the fun that came with each move and hand. And one cannot know Grandpa, without knowing his deep-seated love for all his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. He especially enjoyed introducing all of them to The Three Stooges and Laurel and Hardy.

Launce was preceded in death by his father Albert Kramer, and sister, Lorna Gleason. He is survived by his mother Caryl Karel, sisters Valerie Forunato and Julie Kramer, brother, Ralph Kramer, children Shane Sipes, Errol Kramer (Kelly), Wayne Kramer (Wendy), Mindy Lamers, Leighton Kramer, Ed Kramer (Kerri), Bo Michels (Janice), Andrew Kramer, Cameron Michels, Anna Lauderman (Gary), Stephen Kramer, Nick Kramer (Cari), Tyler Kramer (Bridget), 26 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, Ohio, with Ed Kramer officiating. A private burial will follow in Kramer Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.hadleyfh.com.
