Suzanne (“Suzy”) Kathryn Hammond Walters passed away on Tuesday, November 11th following an extended illness at the age of 94.

Suzy was born on July 28th, 1931 to the late Leo and Julia (Miller) Hammond at the Marietta home of her twin aunts, Nellie and Nettie Miller. She worked for McJunkin Corporation in Marietta, retiring with over 30 years of service. She married Edgar Walters on November 17, 1973. Suzy was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Assumption parish. She spent many years active in several organizations in and around Marietta. She especially enjoyed volunteering for Francisican Meals, where she served on the board for many years.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Hupp. She is survived by her sister, Julia (“Duby”) Eckerty and her husband Don of Midland, Texas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families, including June Deem, Rose Pryor, Michael (Christy) Eckerty, Sean (Dana) Eckerty, Heather (Evan) Schaad, and Ashton (Josh) Billman, along with her dear friends and neighbors. The family would like to thank the staff of Elison of Marietta and Amedisys Hospice for their loving care.

Calling hours will be from 4-6pm on Thursday at Hadley Funeral Home, 5th street, Marietta, OH 45750.

Funeral Mass will be on Friday, November 14th at 10:00am at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption with Fr. Emmanuel Nwosu officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Marietta. OH. Online condolences may be made at www.hadleyfh.com.
