Franklin M. Spriggs, of Sun City, AZ, age 83, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025.
Born in Canton, Ohio on January 30, 1942, Frank was the 6th of seven children. He spent his childhood and teen years in Marietta, Ohio. After many years living around the country, Marietta was always home in his heart.
Frank was a multi-sport athlete and excelled at every sport he played. An integral member of Marietta High School's undefeated 1959 football team, Frank was All COL Conference in 1958 and 1959. He always spoke highly of the friendships and experiences he had with his team mates.
Frank was a fierce competitor. Whether it was playing basketball, golf, a board game or bridge, Frank loved a challenge and always played to win. He made everyone around him a better player. He continued his lifelong passion for sports with coaching, refereeing and fostering a love of sports in his children.
A graduate of the University of Arizona, Frank had a bachelor's degree in History and Government. An insatiable reader of American political history, Frank always had multiple Presidential memoirs, biographies or American history books on his nightstand.
Frank found career success in civil service. His 30 years in management with the Social Security Administration were spent in Hamilton and Dayton, Ohio; High Point, NC and Pittsburg, KS. He returned to Arizona where he enjoyed many wonderful years of retirement in Sun City. Never too far from the golf course, if Frank wasn't playing, you would find him working at the Lakes West Golf Club.
Frank will be remembered for his animated storytelling, enthusiasm for delivering and hearing a good joke, passion for a political debate, love of golf and as an unwavering fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a good man, father, partner and friend.
Preceded in death by his parents, Donald Spriggs and Ruth Spriggs Inbody, infant brother Fredrick, sisters Virginia ("Sis") Abdulla and Barbara ("Zoe") Sutton, Frank is survived by his beloved Wynne Wright, of Sun City, 2 brothers, David Spriggs and Bill (Caroline) Spriggs, both of Sun City, his sister, Sharon Moore of Murfreesboro, TN, 2 daughters, Stefanie (Mike) Storm of Mooresville, NC, Jennifer (Nick) Kinkead of Delaware, Ohio and 4 grandchildren Courtney, Parker, Jake and Gracie.
