Harold Lee Schneider, age 91, passed away peacefully and into the presence of his Lord and Savior on December 28th 2025.
He was born December 6th 1934 to Clinton Gilbert Schneider and Edna Irene (Rinard) Schneider.
Harold graduated from Salem Liberty High School, May 1954 and left for the United States Navy June 9th 1954. He went to Bainbridge Maryland then Pascagoula Mississippi where the USS Fort Snelling LSD was first put into operation with his first deployment to the Mediterranean. His tours included three mid cruises of France, Turkey, Italy, Spain and Greece. He served as an electrician aboard ship. He and Barbara enjoyed traveling to the naval reunions and maintained lifetime relationships with several shipmates and their wives.
After returning from the Navy, he worked at Remington Rand in Marietta about 4 years and then BFGoodrich in 1962 for 47 years.
He married Barbara Ann Close on September 23, 1961 in St Mary's WV at the St Mary's United Methodist Church. He enjoyed flowers, gardening, working on small engines and John Deere tractors. He attended many purple martin seminars, enjoyed building martin houses and watching his purple martins return every year.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann (Close) Schneider, his parents Clinton Gilbert Schneider and Edna Irene (Rinard) Schneider, a sister, Lorna Jones and brother Lester Schneider, granddaughters Christina Marie Morris and Rachel Marie Thompson. He is survived by his daughters, Brenda (Douglas) Morris and Cathie (Steven) Thompson; four grandchildren, Rebecca and Joshua (Sarah) Morris, Emily and Evan Thompson, brother-in-law Allen (Bonnie) Close, nephew Brent (Margaret) Close, niece Melissa (Nicholas) Trimbach, great nieces Kalene, Olivia and Alaina Close, great nephews Magnus and Roland Trimbach.
The family would like to express our gratitude to Waterview Pointe and Amedisys Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care during his later years.
Arrangements are being handled by Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St. Marietta, OH., with visitation on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Visitation will be held from 11am 1:00pm with a funeral immediately following. His service will be officiated by Pastor Kevin Kratzer.
