Becky Eileen Johnston, 72, passed away peacefully on January 2nd, 2026, at Marietta Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family. Becky was born on August 8th, 1953, to Ted O. Parlin and Francis L. Parlin (Mackey).

She graduated from Marietta High School in 1971 and attended Marietta College. In October of 1993, Becky was married to Daniel (Dan) Johnston, with whom she shared many years of love, laughter and partnership.

Becky is survived by her husband Dan, her son Austin Burfield (Katie), their three children: Brooklyn, Harley and Luca, her stepdaughter Danielle Gilliand (Rob), their two children, Brody (Audrey) and Abby, her stepson, Andy Johnston (Danielle) and his daughter Danica. Becky is also survived by her two siblings, Joe Parlin (Karen) and Kim McKenzie (Jim), their son Trevor McKenzie and her dear friend Mary Beth, whom she revered as a sister.

Becky was heavily involved in the Marietta community. She had a store, Black Sheep Crafts, on Front Street for several years and was active in the Marietta Main Street organization. Following the closure of her store, Becky maintained close ties to the community as a friendly face at Schafer Leather Store and through her work at the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley where she served on the board.

She enjoyed painting, gardening, her animals and spending time with her husband Dan.

At Becky’s request there will be no memorial service. In her retirement, Becky was on the board of Compassionate Animal Resources for the Elderly (CARE).
