Edgar L. "Pete" Kegley Jr., 79, of Beverly, Ohio, died on Monday, January 19, 202, at his home. He was born on December 24, 1946, in Danville, Virginia, son of Edgar Lee Kegley Sr. and Josie B. Boswell Kegley. Pete graduated from Fort Frye High School in 1965 and went to Glenville College. He had worked at Globe/Interlake Steel, Union Carbide Plastics and Chemicals, Marathon/Ashland and retired from Marathon Petroleum after 35 years. He had belonged to various organizations over the years, including Beverly Lions Club and Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge #37 F&AM. He was an active member of the Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Marietta and had coached Little League baseball in Marietta for several years. Pete enjoyed hunting and golfing and Fort Frye sports, especially when his kids and grandkids were playing. He was their biggest fan. On May 4, 1980, he was married to Gisela Blutbacher Kegley who survives. Also surviving are four children, Patrick Kegley and wife Heather of Mineral Wells, WV, Jami Whittekind and husband Jason of Marietta, Janis Baker of Marietta and Heidi Tullis and Life Partner Curtis White of Mamaroneck, NY; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sister, Nellie K. Daum of Largo, Florida; sister in-law, Sharon Kegley of Vincent; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Madeline Kegley and a brother William L. Kegley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Marietta with Pastor Matthew Steinfeldt officiating. Burial will be in the Beverly Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm on Thursday at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beverly-Waterford Rescue Squad, Beverly Volunteer Fire Department and the Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge.
