John Roy Sorensen, 82, son of the late Herbert and Wanda Sorensen, was born on September 4, 1943, in Akron, Ohio. He passed away at his home in Winter Park, Florida, on December 31, 2025.
John spent his youth and school years in Marietta, Ohio. There he met many lifelong friends. John joined the Air Force after graduation from Marietta High School. While serving in Japan, he became a sixth degree martial artist.
John was a graduate of Tennessee Temple and Bob Jones University where he studied Religious Education.
John is survived by his sons, Jeffery, Jonathan and Jason. He will be missed by his seven grandchildren. John was predeceased by his brother, James Sorensen.
