Lundy Flournoy Hooten III, 80, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away on January 9, 2026, following an extended illness.
Born in Oklahoma but raised in Cooper, Texas, Lundy dedicated over five decades of his life to serving as a United Methodist Minister across Ohio and Texas.
His devotion to his faith and community was profound, as evident from his long tenure in ministry and his active participation at The Second Congregational Church.
Lundy leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment, survived by his wife of 51 years. Sharon (Kidd) Hooten, and their children: Cristina (Bo) Hernandez of Seguine, TX; Tye Hooten of San Antonio, TX; and Christopher Chad Hooten of Marietta. OH.
His grandchildren, Braylon (Sammy) Sibley Cayden Sibley and Kendrick Hooten, will miss his guidance and presence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lundy Flournoy Hooten Jr. and Sarah Jo (Robertson) Hooten.
Bevond his ministerial work, Lundy was a passionate writer, authoring a few books that reflected his insights and experiences His commitment to his congregations often superseded other interests, yet his early writings continued to be cherished by those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on January 31 at The Second Congregational Church at 2 PM.
In remembrance of Lundy's life and service, donations can be directed to The Second Congregational Church or The Washington County Public Library, in lieu of flowers. These contributions hon or his commitment to faith and education, values he held dearly throughout his life.
