Mary Madelyn Wagner
- Wagner

Wagner
Born January 7, 1942, to Troy Duncan Jones and Mary Alice Chappell Jones in Sylacauga, Alabama. The family moved north to Ohio in the early 1950s. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1960. She then graduated from Valley Beauty School. In 1964, she married the love of her life, Robert E. Wagner, merging their families into one big happy family.
She is survived by five children: Allen (Debra) of Lake Worth, FL; Debi Athos (Tom) of Asheville, NC; Cheryl Frederick (Jake) of Melbourne, FL; Lisa Wagner Smith of Marietta, OH; and Christopher Wagner (Maureen) of Athens, OH; along with 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, her devoted brother Bill Jones (Marlene) of Marietta, OH and several nieces and nephews.
Professionally, she was the manager of Salon DeCoiffer, the Betsey Mills Club Dining Room, and the Marietta Country Club. She was a past member of the Marietta Women’s Club, the Marietta Welfare League and served on the Betsey Mills Club Board.
She shared a very close bond with her siblings and regularly remarked that being a sister was one of her favorite jobs.
Both professionally and especially in her own home, she was an excellent, warm, and inviting host. Our family was blessed to have her orchestrate holiday gatherings and celebrations. She had a knack for decorating, adding class and flair to any room she visited. She delighted in driving with the top down. She loved nothing more than spending time with friends, dear classmates, neighbors, and her loving family.
Madelyn is now reunited with her dear husband, Robert; siblings Jeanette, Jackie, Stanley, and Sharon; brothers-in-law Charlie Simmons and Bill Stevens; grandson Ryan; her parents and step-mom Juanita; and many beloved friends and classmates.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, from 12:00-2:00 p.m., with a service to follow immediately at 2:00 p.m.at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta, OH.
In lieu of flowers, pay for the car behind you in the drive-through, overtip a good server, put out the fancy plates, and find delight in being with family and friends.
