Richard "Dick" Ward, age 88, of Sardis, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on January 18, 2026, and went to Heaven to be with Jesus.
He was born on March 10,1937 in Gallipolis, Ohio, to Leonard and Renee Ward. Known to many as "Dick," he lived a life marked by hard work and a love of the outdoors.
Richard worked for Kardex Systems, Inc. for 25 years and later retired from Chemical Leaman Tank Lines, Inc., where he was respected for his dedication and reliability.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pamela Ward, and his five children: Dennis Ward (Terri) of Vincent, Ohio; Bob Ward (Christina) of Marietta, Ohio; Dave Ward of Canton, Ohio; Marnie Ward of Dallas, Texas; and Randy Ward (Amanda) of Marietta, Ohio. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Richard passed on his love of softball, bowling, and especially fishing to his children. An avid gardener, he had the ability to grow anything he planted and took great satisfaction in tending his garden.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Betty Rossi, Phyllis Clatterbuck, and Patricia Caseman.
Richard will be remembered for his quiet nature, his sense of humor, and moments of laughter he shared with those around him. His family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
