Engle

Edward Allen Engle, born July 12, 1943 in Franklin PA passed away on March 4, 2026, following a short illness. Ed is preceded in death by his bride of 48 years, Cathy Stratton Engle, his mother Florence Engle, and sister Linda (Lu) Lackore.

Ed is survived by his daughters Erica (Nathan) Booth and Emily (Tim) Dodds, his grandchildren, Kylie (Konstantin) Booth, Amanda Booth and Matthew Booth, Troy Dodds and Leah Dodds, his sister Nancy (Charlie) Weinstock, sisters-in-law Laura (Lanny) Sheffield, Annette (Bill) Lyle, and Peggy (Darren) Bracknell, numerous nephews and nieces, and his special puppy Woody.

Ed loved his family and often spoke of how proud he was of each of them. Ed was a certified public accountant by trade, but dabbled in music and art throughout his life, playing drums, painting and his pride and joy: renovating his 1829 family home, the Levi Barber House in Marietta. Ed knew more about the history of Marietta and Harmar Village in Marietta than many because of his love for his family home.

Ed was a 1961graduate of Marietta High School and a 1965 graduate of Marietta College, earning his degree in accounting. He worked at Ernst and Ernst in Cincinnati, Williams Shoe Factory in Portsmouth, Ironton Coke in Ironton, and the Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Piketon. He was active in each community he lived, Cincinnati, Portsmouth, Wheelersburg, and Marietta. He enjoyed high school and college football and basketball. Ed, along with Cathy, loved everything Disney. He was known to decide one day that the next day he would drive from Marietta to Orlando just to spend a day at Disney World. His love for Disney was passed on to his children and grandchildren.

Ed was a member of Gilman United Methodist Church, Marietta. During his life, whatever community he lived in, Ed became an active member at various churches serving in various roles.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ed to Gilman United Methodist Church, 312 Gilman Ave, Marietta, Ohio 45750.
