Darwin Nial Caltrider, 81, of Huntington, passed away on March 29, 2026. His funeral will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 1 pm at the Gilman United Methodist Church in Marietta, Ohio.

The McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his loving wife Gay Jackson, his brother Emanuel and wife Christine Caltrider, sister-in-law Kay Caltrider, his children and spouses, Adam and Janetta Caltrider, Amy Caltrider Leach and Brian Leach, Ryan and Caryn Caltrider and stepchildren Pamela Haddox and Alan Jackson. He is also survived by grandchildren Nathanial Caltrider and wife Marissa and their children Atlas and Poppy, Katie Leach and her children Bailey, Brennen, Ryleigh and Reagan, Sarah Leach Wilson and husband Justin and their children Ariah and Clyde, Chris Caltrider and wife Amanda and son Corbin, Alison Leach Wallen and husband Joey and their children Asher and Charlotte, P. Michael Johnson and wife Hannah and their daughter Lena, Caleb Caltrider, Alexander and Sophia Haddox and Brooke Jackson. Nial was predeceased by his parents Harry and Gertrude Caltrider, his brother Wade and wife Betsy Caltrider, and brother Donald Caltrider. Nial had a long career in the printing industry, notably at Richardson Printing in Marietta, and retired from Baesman Group in Columbus, Ohio. He and Gay, who worked at Ohio State, lived in the city for twenty years and enjoyed university activities and, of course, Buckeye sports. While there he attended evening classes and graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Nial was a devout Christian and member of Highlawn Presbyterian Church in Huntington. He was cared for by the excellent doctors and nurses at Cabell Huntington Hospital, St. Mary’s Medical Center, and the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington.
