Jeanie Sue McGee, 68, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her immediate family on Friday, April 24, 2026, in the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. She was born on May 1, 1957, in Marietta, OH, the daughter of the late Robert E. and Bettie L. Morris McCracken. Jeanie is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Edward A. McGee. She is also survived by her two daughters, Jessica Varuolo and her husband Michael of Lee, New Hampshire, and their children, Josephine and Alden, and Lorna Ebstein and her husband Sammy of Basel, Switzerland, and their children, Isabella and Henry. She is also survived by her brother Matthew McCracken and his wife Shannon of Marietta, OH, and their daughter Cailin, as well as four other siblings. In addition to her parents, Jeanie was preceded in death by brother, John. Jeanie was a proud 1975 graduate of Marietta Senior High School and Fairmont State College. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 20 years at the old United Hospital Center. She was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Fairmont. Jeanie was a very talented cook and loved celebrating her favorite holiday, Thanksgiving. She was known for her homemade grape jelly and peach jam. She enjoyed gardening in her beautiful flower garden and watching the birds as they flocked to her feeders. Jeanie was an avid traveler, where she made countless memories visiting 19 countries. She never knew a stranger and would always give her honest opinion on everything. Jeanie had a way of lighting up any room. In high school, she was named the class clown because Jeanie could make anyone laugh. Jeanie found her greatest enjoyment in spending precious time with her family, especially her grandchildren. The family has entrusted the arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont. Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 from 4 pm until 8 pm and again on Thursday, April 30, 2026 from 10 am until 11 am. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 11 am with Reverend Father Walter Jagela presiding. A service of committal will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 11 am in the East Lawn Memorial Park in Marietta, OH. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fordfuneralhomes.com.
