Marlene Walbert, 75, of Lowell, Ohio, passed away at her daughter’s home in Marietta on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of strength, care and unwavering love. She was born on June 9, 1950, in Marietta, Ohio, daughter of George and Mildred Huck Lang. She graduated from Fort Frye High School in 1968 and had worked at BF Goodrich/RJF in Marietta for 47 years before her retirement. Marlene was the kind of person who gave everything she had to the people around her. She helped raise her family, always putting others before herself, and made sure everyone felt taken care of no matter what was going on in her own life. Her love was steady, real and something you could always count on. She had a personality that people will never forget. Her famous “Hi, dummy” was never meant to be anything but love. That was her way of saying that she cared, her own special way of making people smile and feel seen. It became something everyone close to her understood and cherished. Marlene was a Member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Lowell and the Catholic Women’s Club. She enjoyed the old TV shows including, The Lone Ranger, Gunsmoke and Wagon Train and she loved Elvis. She loved her family and always enjoyed the activities and sporting events of her grandchildren. On June 17, 1972 she was married to David Walbert, her husband of 54 years. She is survived by her husband; two children, Christopher Walbert and wife Jackie of Belpre, Ohio and Krystle Lupardus and husband Chris of Marietta; five grandchildren, Sierra Walbert, Allison Arora (Nitin), Madison Dexter, Chase Lupardus and Alexus Lupardus; two great grandchildren, Lena and Millie; four brothers, Tommy Lang of Lowell, Nelson Lang (Susie) of Lowell, Regis Lang of Devola and Joe Lang (Carol) of Oak Grove; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Bernard, Richard and Raymond Lang and a sister, Justine Tornes.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery in Lowell with Father Tim Kozak officiating. Burial will be in the Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
