It is with profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Rebecca Bowles, affectionately known as Becky, who entered into eternal rest at the age of 90. Though petite in stature, Becky moved through the world with effortless grace, a sophisticated sense of style, and a laugh that could fill a room. She was the quiet engine of our family, proving that the greatest strength often comes in the most modest of frames.

Becky was the daughter of Bessie L. Robinett and Joseph W. Yoder. Born and raised in Bowling Green and Columbus, Ohio, she carried forward a deep respect for hard work and perseverance. From an early age, she embodied resilience, meeting life’s challenges with poise, determination, and grace.

In 1970, she married the love of her life, Paul Bowles. Together, they built a life grounded in loyalty and shared joy, including their spirited devotion to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Autumn Saturdays were sacred, filled with tradition, a glass of red wine, and her ever-present sense of style and humor.

Moving to Marietta later in life, Becky quickly became woven into the city’s cultural heart. Her vision was instrumental to the growth of the historic Colony Theatre, and her tireless efforts as a non-profit leader were foundational to its evolution into the Peoples Bank Theatre, ensuring the arts would thrive for future generations.

A gifted artist with an eye for design, Becky spent countless hours crafting beautiful clothing and intricate quilts for her children and grandchildren, imbuing every piece with her signature care. Today, her family remains wrapped in the warmth of these heirloom creations–lasting reminders of her love and creativity.

As a single mother, Becky exemplified strength and sacrifice, raising her family with unwavering dedication. She created a home filled with warmth, stability, and love, ensuring her children always felt supported and cared for.

Her most cherished title was “Granny,” a name lovingly shared not only by her grandchildren but by neighborhood children as well. A lifelong fan of Johnny Cash, she found comfort in his music and stories, often filling her home with his songs and a sense of familiarity and peace.

Even at 90, Becky’s spirit remained a beacon of integrity and unconditional love. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, and her children, Kelly Allman, Michael Miller, and Laurie Kehl. She is survived by her son, Daniel Miller; her grandchildren; and a legacy of strength, love, and resilience that will continue to live on through all who knew her.

A celebration of Becky’s life will begin at East Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Marietta at 11:30 a.m., followed by a gathering at 12:30 p.m. at The Galley, where friends and family are invited to share stories, memories, and raise a glass in honor of a life so beautifully lived. In lieu of flowers, please perform an act of kindness for a neighbor, honoring the way she lived every day.

“She walked the line with grace, she fought the fight with style, and she’s gonna leave us with a Buckeye win if she has anything to say about it. Go Bucks.”
