Ann Strecker Brownell, 86, of Concord, MA, passed away peacefully at home on April 14, 2026. Born on August 9, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Hayward and Helen Strecker.

Ann grew up in Marietta, Ohio, where she met and married Dave, the love of her life, while he attended Marietta College. Together they moved to New England and built a full and joyful life.

Ann and Dave shared many adventures, traveling widely, running their business, Belmont Toys, and creating lasting memories with the “Sminell gang” at the home they all built on Newfound Lake, New Hampshire.

Affectionately known as “Granny Annie,” she found her greatest joy surrounded by family and friends. Whether enjoying a martini, playing cards or dominoes, or sharing laughter and conversation late into the night, Ann brought warmth, humor, and connection to every gathering. She especially cherished summers at the lake. She will be remembered for her generosity, quick wit, and unwavering love of family and friends throughout her life always present.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan (George Kulp), and their children, Griffin and Jo; her son, Gage Brownell (Emily), and his daughter, Casey Wallace; her sister, Sue (Strecker) Leiendecker and her husband, Jay; and many extended family members. She was predeceased by her husband, Dave; her brother, Dave Strecker; and her Aunt Mary Strecker.

Ann will be laid to rest alongside her husband at “Cocktail Point” in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, where laughter and merriment will continue. A private burial and celebration of life will be held in the future. Donations in her honor may be made 51 Walden, P.O. Box 251, Concord, MA 01742, an organization for the arts she supported.

Dee Funeral Home, in Concord MA, is responsible for the arrangements.
