David F. Cochran

David F. Cochran, 83, of New Matamoras, Ohio, passed away on May 2, 2026, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 29, 1942, in Trail Run, Ohio, the son of the late Francis L. Cochran and Edna P. Byers Cochran.

He graduated from New Matamoras High School in 1961. After serving in the U.S. Army Corps in Wurzburg, Germany, he returned home. On November 10, 1963, he married the love of his life, Linda McMahan Cochran. They spent 40 years making a home, raising a family and going on adventures. He spent several years working as a barber in New Matamoras, Ohio. He later retired from Ormet Corporation in 2004. 

David was a proud 52-year member of the New Matamoras Lodge #374, Free and Accepted Masons. He loved spending time in his shop, building everything from clocks to cabinets, riding around “the farm” in his side by side, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Michael (Pamela) Cochran of New Matamoras; his daughter, Kelly (David) Brightwell of New Matamoras; and his grandchildren, Molly (Chase) Murdock and Nicholas (Janielle) Brady, all of New Matamoras. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Cambrie, Ella, and Logan; his brother, Doug (Cathy) Cochran of Beavertown, Ohio; brother-in-law, Michael McMahan of Lubeck, WV; sisters in law, Mary McMahan of New Matamoras and Susan McMahan of Newport, Ohio; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Ingram Funeral Home in St. Marys, WV, with Pastor David Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in New Matamoras Cemetery, New Matamoras, Ohio. Friends may call from 2:00­4:00 P.M. and 6:00­8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 5, and from 10:00­11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. A Masonic Ceremony will take place at 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 5, at the funeral home.
