After 35 years in Parkersburg, Nancy moved to Marietta, Ohio to be closer to family.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom, of 53 years; her son, James (“Jim”) Pillichody (Marianna); her sisters, Jane Albright and Marilyn Vanderpool; and her brother, Wilbert (“Bill”) Hurd.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Miller; her son Jeffrey (“Jeff”) Pillichody (Lori), eleven grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as many adored nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her dear friends and longtime neighbors, Mary Ann and Rich Wilson, who became like family through decades of friendship.
Nancy and Tom shared a wonderful life together filled with a love of family, travel, and evenings hosting and attending dinner parties with close friends. Nancy was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and an active member in her bridge club and a number of other women’s organizations centered in philanthropic efforts.
Nancy was a talented seamstress and took pride in creating her grandchildren’s clothing for special occasions, cherished Raggedy Ann dolls, and baby blankets for new arrivals in the family. She especially loved following the activities and accomplishments of her grandchildren. Nancy also found joy in life’s simple pleasures, following the royal family, sharing stories over a good Bloody Mary, and spending time with her beloved dog, Maggie Mae, who was a constant companion and source of comfort.
Above all else, Nancy loved and treasured her family more than anything in this world. Her warmth, humor, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
