Carolyn Ann (Ray) Howard, 95, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 30, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Born on July 22, 1931, in Greenback, Tennessee, Carolyn was the daughter of the late John and Ida Ray. On February 19, 1953, she married the love of her life, Floyd Mitchel Howard, who preceded her in death. Carolyn is survived by her loving children, Sammy (Lee) Howard and Scott Howard; her cherished grandchildren, Jessica (Steve) Yoho , Katie (Beci) Nahori, Mattie (Robert) Basanez and Sarah Efaw; her beloved great-grandchildren, Hannah (Brandon) Yoho, Josie Yoho, Tyler Yoho, Lukas Nahori and Lucas Basanez; her great- great- grandchildren Grayson Yoho and Lyla Schamp; and her sister Martha (Terry) Lund. In addition to her husband and parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brothers Charles Ray and Clarence Harold Ray; and her sisters Margaret Hammantree, Delois Ryan, Joneda Sands and Connie Hood. She was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church of New Matamoras and active in the church up until her death. Carolyn will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her kind and generous heart, her wonderful sense of humor, and her zest for life. She found joy in the simple moments, treasured time spent with those she loved, and touched countless lives with her warmth, compassion, and friendship. She loved spending time with her quilting circle family making beautiful quilts. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Matamoras First Baptist Church with John Felton officiating. A private family visitation will be held from 9-9:30 AM, followed by a public visitation from 9:30 until 11:00 AM, with funeral services immediately following at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Matamoras First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 655, New Matamoras, OH 45767 or Matamoras Area Senior Citizens Center, 506 Broadway Ave., New Matamoras.
